Every autumn the same thing happens: the phone comes out on a Friday, but realistically you can only buy a case for it a couple of weeks later. This year is different – accessory makers have already prepared their ranges. In this article we have set out what is expected from the new generation, what you can already order today and what to look out for if you are considering a foldable phone.

What is expected from the iPhone 18 Pro?

According to publicly available forecasts, the autumn launch event should take place in early September, with the phones going on sale roughly a week or two later. What is expected:

• iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max – the Pro line only.
• Apple's first foldable phone – called “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra” in the press.
• There will most likely be no standard iPhone 18 this autumn – it is expected in spring 2027.

It is this last point that changes the usual autumn picture: if you want a new iPhone this year, you will have to choose either a Pro model or the foldable – or stay with the iPhone 17, which is not going anywhere and has the widest choice of accessories.

What can you already order today?

Without waiting for the official launch, accessory makers have already released their first models. The KAMA.lt warehouse in Lithuania already has:

Why do the same cases fit the iPhone 17 Pro and 18 Pro?

Take a look at the product names: most cases are listed as fitting the iPhone 17 Pro / 18 Pro at the same time. This is neither a mistake nor a marketing trick.

Accessory makers get the dimensions before journalists do. If they are prepared to make one case for two generations, that strongly suggests the body dimensions are essentially unchanged. At the same time, notice the opposite signal: lens protectors are made separately for the iPhone 18 Pro – which means the camera module is most likely changing.

This is useful in practice: if you already have an iPhone 17 Pro case you like, there is a good chance it will fit the new phone too. But this is still a forecast, not a guarantee – which is why KAMA.lt offers a 14-day return period if the case does not fit.

What is NOT available yet (and when to expect it)

To be honest: there is no front screen protector for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max yet. Screen glass always arrives last, because manufacturers need precise cut-outs and a guarantee that the curvature of the frame has not changed.

Also not available yet:

• Leather and designer cases (Guess, BMW, Mercedes, Karl Lagerfeld) – these arrive 1–2 months after the phone comes out.
• Any accessories for Apple's foldable phone – because the phone itself has not been announced yet.

Practical tip: buy a case straight away, and the glass a few weeks later. The first days are the riskiest (a new phone that your hand is not used to yet), and a case protects the corners, which is where phones most often break.

iPhone Fold: how is protecting a foldable phone different?

If a foldable Apple phone does come out this autumn, protecting it will be completely different from protecting a regular iPhone. From our experience with the Samsung Galaxy Z series, we know three rules:

1. Tempered glass is NEVER applied to the inner folding screen. Glass does not bend – it would break the first time you fold the phone and could damage the screen itself. The inner screen only takes the factory-fitted film or a TPU/hydrogel film made specifically for folding screens.
2. The weakest point is the hinge. Dust and sand getting into the mechanism are the most common cause of serious faults. That is why cases for foldable phones often have a section that covers the hinge.
3. The case usually comes in two parts – one for each half of the phone. This means the corner protection is weaker than on a regular phone, which is a natural design trade-off.

The outer (cover) screen can be protected with regular tempered glass – it does not bend.

Why is there no iPhone 18 Pro screen glass yet?

Screen protectors always arrive last, because manufacturers need precise data on the screen cut-outs and frame curvature. This usually takes a few weeks after the phone goes on sale.

Is it worth buying accessories for a phone that has not been announced yet?
